Award-Winning Children’s Books

January is the month for the American Library Association to announce the award-winning books of 2012. Miller Library already has most of the winning titles in the collection! Check these out if you want to see what was considered to be the best of the best for the past year.

Newbery John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature

  Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos

Randolph Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book for children

   A Ball for Daisy by Christopher Raschka

Michael L. Printz Award for excellence in literature written for young adults

  Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley

Coretta Scott King (Author) Book Award recognizing an African American author and illustrator of outstanding books for children and young adults

   Heart and Soul: the story of America and African Americans by Kadir Nelson
